I chose to review three websites from awwwards.com. The ones I selected were https://www.elizadoltuofficial.net/, reksaandhika.com, and https://www.itsmarga.me/. After being voted on by a group of our peers these were voted among the top ten.
The first website that I selected was on awwwards.com was https://www.elizadoltuofficial.net/. Since I just began creating my portfolio, I believe looking at others will inspire more creativity and design. She has a unique url, something I didnt think to add to my url would be official. This unique url makes this website stand out amongst the other two. I like how she has her mouse decorated. Reminds me of searching the web in the early 2000s. I looked for this free feature and I found a few plug ins. They would also turn out to be premium plugins. The transitions are smooth. The user can scroll on the page, and the text will pop up a few seconds later, which may once again have their attention turned to the text. The text layout reminds me of a magazine, as if her portfolio should be for sale. I think that’s a nice design feature.
I then found reksaandhika.com to be an amazing website. I mostly like that he is using a slideshow on his home page. The navigation stays interactive with the underlying, which is a nice design choice. His websites all look cohesive despite their content. The overall theme of the color black paired with lime is balanced and the user is more likely to remember it later. The content is not on a carousel yet is displayed in a stackable slideshow. While he highlights what his clients like, it gives me ideas for potential ones. The designer is able to pack a lot of his portfolio onto a one page website.
The final website for review is https://www.itsmarga.me/. Another website that reminds me of the early 2000’s. I can see where the author took their time when deciding the transitions. When first arriving to the page the first header transitions into a completely different page. It’s interactive as the cursor moves with the pointer with a message attached to it. I like the theme and the choice of fonts and colors. The interactive cursor that appears as a box is a unique cursor. It seems as though most of the websites that made it into the top ten had interactive cursors.
